Held during the period of July 9-13, 2026, at Spooky Nook Champion Mill in Hamilton, Ohio, Select Events Power 24 and its sibling Select 40 conducted its Session II alongside Select Super Showcase (an event for independent club teams) July 9-11 & Session III alongside the Midwest Summer Classic (another event for independent club teams) July 12-13. All told 440 teams participated on the 28 courts at Champion Mill plus six off-site courts. During this period, event staff stated 483 college coaches representing 340 colleges attended at least one day of the event. Colleges ranged from the top of NCAA Division 1 through Division 2, Division 3, NAIA and junior college ranks. Thus, one could say this event was a smaller version of what I had attended the prior few days in Louisville. As it turns out, the finals of the Power 24/Select 40 will be held July 24-27, 2026, at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Power 24
According to Select Events (presenting organization) staff, this is year three of the Power 24. As you will find in the various “shoe circuits,” there are teams from across the USA. The Power 24 is considered by many observers (including myself) to be the best of the “non-shoe circuits” in terms of talent. One difference between the Power 24 and one or more of the major “shoe circuits” is that a Power 24 club did not have to enter a team in both Power 24 2027 and Power 24 2028 Divisions although most did. As I was only able to attend the last two days (July 13 is shorter as it is a ‘get away’ day) of the event, I concentrated primarily on older Power 24 teams. As in other circuits, many of the top younger players were ‘playing up.” Regardless, I likely missed many quality players as one can only see a limited number of teams in a day and a half.
So let us quickly look at which circuits have the best talent and where a player should go to get the best club experience for her.
I have gone on record in saying that NIKE’s EYBL is the deepest league in terms of major D1 talent. The EYBL (covered in an article on its New Orleans stop in May) has roughly half and the other half is scattered amongst the rest of club ball. Varying from year to year, Adidas (covered in an article on its Bryan, Texas stop in April), the GUAA (covered in my recent article on its Louisville stop) and Power 24 (covered in this article) each have a chunk of the other half. If the relatively new Puma and New Balance circuits continue forward, they will likely continue to try to attract talented clubs. Only time will tell. Regardless, ”the shoe wars on hardwood” continue!
As for club experience, I tell parents and high school coaches of potential D1 recruits, you can get enriching experience on multiple circuits, but for now, acceptable levels of strong competition are primarily found on the four circuits outlined just above. Using the ESPN rankings, the top prospect in the class of 2026 (Saniyah Hall) finished club play on the Power 24 circuit. Keleena Smith (#1 in 2027) is finishing her club career as an Adidas athlete. ESPN’s top 2028 prospect (Tatiana Griffin) and top 2029 prospect (Kristen Winston) are in the EYBL. The GUAA has 2027 #2 (Ivanna Wilson Manyacka). The point is a player can find a rewarding club experience on more than one circuit. To make a play on words, one size/model of shoe (here really sneaker!) does not necessarily fit all!
Taking a look at the top 2027/17u teams of the Power 24
Jason Kidd Select P24 2027 has the firepower to play with any team in club basketball this summer. Undefeated in Power 24 play (11-0) through July’s Session III, they were still without USA U17 team member Maliya Hunter (6-2, forward, 2028, Archbishop Mitty High School, California). Besides her, they still have at least 5 players with Power 4 offers. Still, I must caution that talent does not guarantee victory on the court.
Myella Chapman (5-8, point guard, 2027, Bishop O’Dowd High School, California) – an athletic field; good basketball IQ; can attack of the bounce; verbally committed to Ohio State.
Amel Cook (6-1, forward, 2028, Windward School, California) – a high-level, poised athlete who can create shots in attacking the basket; good passer; one of the top prospects in 2028 class.
D’Arrah Mitchell (6-0, forward, 2028, Sandy Creek High School, Georgia) – above average athlete with good motor and inside/outside game; recently moved to Georgia from Nevada; has D1 offers from Power 4 level and down.
Zeni Patterson (5-9, guard, 2027, Archbishop Mitty High School, California) – above average athlete who can attack the rim off the bounce but is also a threat from behind the arc; has Power 4 offers.
Nylah Webster (6-0, small forward, 2027, Adrienne C. Nelson High School) – strongly built; above average athlete who can stroke the three from the wing to baseline area; has Power 4 offers.
Legends U Black P24 2027 players #22 Kenna Hunt and #5 Nylah Mason.
Legends U Black P24 2027 may not have the portfolio of talent of the above Jason Kidd Select team but still has plenty of potential Power 4 players. The team is 10-1 losing to YKS in April with several close calls after that. A lot of “bend but do not break.” Several of their top players:
Janaya Cooper (5-11, guard, 2028, Fort Wayne Snider High School, Indiana) – athlete with power to the rim and mid-range stroke; three-ball third scoring option: multiple Power 4 offers.
Kenna Hunt (5-10, point guard, 2028, Jackson Lumen Christi Catholic School, Michigan) – athletic field general who runs offense; defends well; when proper looks to score, primarily via the drive; offers from Power 4 schools and down,
Tatiana Mason (5-10, guard, 2027, Charles F. Brush High School, Ohio) – athlete who appears to have drive first mentality; will hit the glass; verbally committed to Ohio State.
Nylah Mason (5-9, guard, 2028, Charles F. Brush High School, Ohio) – athlete with game similar to older sister; offers currently from Power 4 level and down.
Isabella Swisshelm (6-0, shooting guard, 2029, West Clermont High School, Ohio) – lefty with smooth perimeter stroke and physical build; multiple Power 4 offers.
YKS P24 2027 was playing without its star Micah Ojo (6-0, guard/forward, 2027, Princess Anne High School, Virginia) away with USA U17 squad in Europe. Without her, the team took its first loss, standing at 10-1 after Session 3. In watching half of one contest, the team seemed balanced in the absence of Ojo with multiple players with a chance to land in Division 1 most likely below the Power 4 level. Three I noticed:
Destini Collins (5-10, shooting guard, 2027, Green Run High School, Virginia) – decent athlete with nice mid-range stroke.
Kate Spain (5-8, point guard, 2027, Floyd E. Kellam High School, Virginia) – field general who pick her spots to score; verbally committed to William & Mary.
Mia Spain (5-8, guard, 2027, Floyd E. Kellam High School, Virginia) – lefty; more shooting guard than twin Kate; verbally committed to William & Mary.
Per graduation class, players below are in alphabetical order with listed height, position, club team with high school (last or if known, soon to be attending) and state location of school in parenthesis.
Note that players described below as “improved” were ones this writer had seen previously some time ago. Also, players mentioned jumped out at me if only in brief moments. All are likely Division 1 at some level with the more likely Power 4 noted. Do note many quality players were missed, as this was a big event that could not be fully covered if staying the entire five days rather than just two!
2027
Samantha Barton, 5-9, guard, MCW P24 2027 (Dexter Southfield School, Massachusetts)
Combo guard; showed a variety of offense (three-ball, pull-up, drive) versus quality opposition; word in gym is came of injury this spring and may not have had the attention she deserved until July; should be getting D1 looks.
Kaylor Buse, 5-9, guard, NW Select P24 2027 (West Linn High School, Oregon)
Mobile, versatile scorer, showing drive, mid-range and three-ball; has Power 4 offers.
Marlee Falcon, 6-2, wing, Sanford Sports P24 2027 (Legacy High School, North Dakata)
Tall three-point, off-the-catch shooter able to pump in five or more in a game if not closely guarded; other aspects of game not nearly as developed; verbally committed to University of South Dakota.
Haiden Hall, 6-3, power forward, E5 Select P24 2028 (Raymond High School, Alberta, Canada)
Mobile multi-level scorer; can attack rim out of high post but also step out to hit the three; has residency in USA and Canada attending high school in Canada; played in 2028 division as she could possibly play another year of high school by Canadian rules; has Division 1 offers.
Stella Hoss, 6-2, power forward, Team G P24 2027 (Mater Dei High School, Santa Ana, California)
Adequately athletic; blue-collar, hard-nosed mentality; can step out for the three but primarily plays in paint; verbally committed to University of Pennsylvania.
Paola Kanoute, 6-2, forward, Ibelieve P24 2027
Above average athlete who can score in the key and hit the glass; needs to extend shooting range; from France; currently between schools as prior school (Putnam Science in Connecticut closed); worthy of looks from Power 4 level and down.
Kamdyn Klamberg, 6-1, power forward, Team G P24 2027 (Sage Hill School, California)
Adequately athletic; plays hard; will hit the glass; can step out to shoot the three; offer from the edge of Power 4 and down.
Mia McGregor, 5-10, guard, Michigan Mystics P24 2027 (Mio Ausable High School, Michigan)
Strongly built, physical, player with toughness; can play either guard slot; can finish with contact in attacking rim; can hit the three in bunches putting up big numbers regularly in club and high school; question is ability to guard at next level; offers from Power 4 level and down.
Ruby Moore, 5-9, point guard, Sanford Sports P24 2027 (Bishop O’Gorman High School, South Dakota)
Most impressive was her performance running offense under pressure; good court vision; can hit the three; verbally committed to South Dakota State.
Anna Moser, 5-8, point guard, Team Northeast P24 2027 (Hoosac School, New York)
High IQ lead guard knowing when to do what; can hit the three and attack the basket with the floater; could still bulk up a bit for SEC play as verbally committed to University of Florida.
Bella Owumi, 6-0, guard/forward, MCW P24 2027 (Tilton School, New Hampshire)
Above average multi-positional athlete; can create her own shot; has Power 4 offers.
Coral Prosser, 5-7, guard, SLAAM Grate P24 2027 (Berlin Brothersvalley High School, Pennsylvania)
Well built, mobile guard with ability to attack the rim and score at mid-range; offers from Power 4 level and down.

Small point guard with a high basketball IQ; can beat opponent with passing as well as scoring (some drive and some three-ball); multiple Power 4 offers.

Above average athlete who plays hard; showed versatile scoring with three-ball, mid-range and scoring at rim; hitts the glass; has offers from Power 4 level and down.
Mia Hall, 6-1, wing, Gabby Williams Elite P24 2028 (Bishop Manogue Catholic High School, Nevada)
Active at both ends, showed some driving ability and able to hit the three, has division 1 offers below the Power 4 level.

Strongly build lefty scoring primarily in key; above average passer out of high post; multiple Power 4 offers.

Showed both a pull-up jumper and three-ball; made good decisions with the ball; has division 1 offers below the Power 4 level.

Strongly built with above average court vision; can attack the rim and shoot the three; above average defender; has multiple Power 4 offers.

Athletically adequate, can hit the three; worth monitoring her maturation at D1 level.
