GUAA Session Stop 2:  Locked and Loaded

Under Armour Circuit

July 13-15, 2024 | Indianapolis, IN

Held July 13-15, 2024, at Pacers Athletic Center in Westfield, Indiana, 96 Girls Under Armour (known as the GUAA held in three age divisions of 32) played four pre-set games over three days in its Session #2.  Off site, another 124 teams (mostly teams from the auxiliary UA Rise circuit) competed.  Approximately 350 college (about 600 coaches as some schools sent more than one coach) from junior colleges to major NCAA Division 1 institutions attended one or more days of this “NCAA Live (for its division 1 schools) period” event.  According to event staff, this was the best attended UAA event in its five-year history. The superior turnout was helped by the “golden triangle” effect with major events in Louisville (Kentucky), Hamilton (Ohio) and greater Indianapolis (Indiana) area all within reasonable driving distance of the other.

Team of the event in 2025 division: SA Finest GUAA 17U

The team with players primarily out of Texas (one from Arkansas) had no superstar but instead multiple major Division one players who fit well together on the court.  The team went 4-0 at the stop with a 58-47 win over previously unbeaten FBC United GUAA 2025 (almost always one of the very top teams on the GUAA circuit).

Below several of the many quality players at the event are discussed, mostly briefly with almost all being players likely to get offers from the major NCAA Division 1 level or at least strong consideration (some very young) in the future.  All showed out at some point in the event. Players below are listed alphabetically within graduation class with listed height, position, and club team (player’s high school and state of prior year in parenthesis with any transfer officially released noted as well).  Players with quality performances in Westfield written about in recent articles may have been omitted.

2025

Kaelyn Carroll, 6-3, forward, Bay State Jaguars GUAA 2025 (Tabor Academy, Massachusetts)

Carroll is considered one of the best players in New England. She moves well for her size and has a strong inside/outside game.

Nataliyah Gray, 6-3, forward, Texas U GUAA 2025 (Alief Taylor High School, Texas)

Gray has a long, medium-solid build running well.  She showed the ability to shoot, primarily at mid-range but her three-ball needs to be respected.  She should be getting major D1 looks.

Destiny Lunan, 5-9, guard, West Coast Elite GUAA 2025 (Millennium High School, Arizona)

Lunan is a lanky lefty who has big time speed with the ball. She showed she can hit from mid-range but attacking the rim is number 1 objective. Due to Arizona Federation transfer rules, she did not play high school ball last year. Look for her to make up for that this season!

2025 Maya Makalusky

Maya Makalusky, 6-4, wing, West Virginia Thunder – Riego GUAA 2025 (Hamilton Southeastern High School, Indiana)

Orally committed to Indiana, Makalusky continues to knock down multiple threes game after game often posting 20+ points.  Unlike at least some long-range bombers, she also appears to have a mid-range stroke off the bounce.

Leonna Sneed, 5-7, point guard SA Finest GUAA 17U (Karen Wagner High School, Texas)

Sneed is not tall, but strong in build and is quite solid when it comes to protecting the ball and running an offense.  She thinks pass first looking to keep the ball moving. A lot of programs from the majors down could use what she has to offer!

Natalie Wetzel, 6-3, power forward, Western PA Bruins GUAA 2025 (Peters Township High School, Pennsylvania)

Orally committed to Miami of Florida, Wetzel has come a long way in adding skills in the last year when she was more “tall, mobile prospect with upside.”  She now can knock down the three but also score in the key.

Nyadieng Yiech, 6-2, power forward, B1CE Canada GUAA 2025 (Fort Eire International Academy, Ontario, Canada)

Strongly built and athletic, Yiech can attack the basket with force. Sometimes she settles for the three (which she can hit) sooner than necessary thereby not putting pressure on the defense.

2026

Natalie Anderson, 6-0, guard, Northwest Blazers GUAA 2025 (King’s High School, Washington)

Anderson is a versatile guard able to score at all three levels mostly selecting her shots wisely. She has major D1 offers.

Amari Byles, 6-2, forward, SA Finest 17U (DeSoto High School, Texas)

Byles can step out on to the perimeter or go to work in the paint thanks to an athletic medium-solid build.

Bella Flemings, 6-0, shooting guard, SA Finest GUAA 17U (Brennan High School, Texas)

Simply put, Fleming looks to score and can do so in bunches. Although she can attack, the three-ball appears to be her favorite weapon.

Jasleen Green, 5-8, shooting guard, FGB GUAA 2025 (American Heritage Plantation, Florida)

Green’s number one trait may be persistence. Whether her perimeter shot is falling or her drives may not be going down, Green keeps active on offense and give a decent effort on D.  The result is positive for the team more than not!

2026 Shania James

Shania James, 5-6, guard, Example Sports GUAA 2025 (Example Academy, Illinois)

A medium-built combo guard, James can fill it up from the perimeter both within and behind the arc. She posted six threes in one viewing.

2027

2027 Caroline Bradley

Caroline Bradley, 6-5, center, Mavs Elite GUAA 2026 (Oak Grove High School, Louisiana)

Bradley is a classical low post with great touch around the rim running the court adequately.  One added bonus shown appears to be above average foul shooting. In sum, she is one of the top players at her position in the 2027 class.

Aries Branch, 5-1, point guard, MBA GUAA 2027 (East Kentwood High School. Michigan)

As one national scout said about the diminutive point guard “she got game.”  Branch has fine speed and quickness along with above average IQ.  She can drive it and shoot from the perimeter.  The only question is finding the right fit given her lack of height (not lack of game).

Brookeslee Colvin, 5-8, point guard, Northwest Blazers GUAA 2025 (Coeur d’Alene High School, Idaho)

With a sister (now off to college) who won at least one state player of the year award, Colvin may yet put another on the family mantle before ending her high school career. She has good mobility, handles and basketball IQ running offense for a team playing in a division two years up from her class.

Khalia Hartwell, 6-5, center, Team Curry GUAA 2025 (Westside High School, South Carolina)

Hartwell is your big strong low post that division 1 schools dream to have on their rosters.  Nothing flashy, just get ball down low and score!

Anna Moser, 5-8, point guard, NY Havoc GUAA 2025 (Rutland High School, Vermont; will be attending Hoosac School in New York)

Moser is thin in build but strong in her ability to run a team.  Needing to fill out, school from the majors down are showing interest in her. Last season’s Vermont Gatorade Player of the Year, she is transferring hoping to find a higher level of competition.

2028 (all below should be monitored from major D1’s down)

Reese Enderson, 6-2, power forward, 6-2, power forward, Northwest Blazers GUAA 2027 (Ben Steele Middle School; will be attending Billings West High School, Montana)

Enderson was one of several promising 2028 players on this 2027 division team.  What impressed about her was decent mobility, height and ability to shoot the three.

2028 Syniyah Grigsby

Syniyah Grigsby, 6-2, forward, Texas U GUAA 2027 (Vanston Middle School; will be attending North Mesquite High School, Texas)

Just going into high school, Grigsby showed an ability to score at all three levels able to play in and outside the paint posting 20 points in one viewing.  Of the 2028’s seen at this event, she was the most advanced and should be well up 2028 national lists.

Amy Nduka, 6-3, post, FBC United West Coast (Sacred Heart School; will be attending Eastside Catholic High School, Washington)

Coming off the bench versus a strong SA Finest GUAA 17U, strongly built Nduka impressed posting 16 points on a combination of threes, mid-range shots and rim scoring. Having good hands, she does need to watch her conditioning to maintain adequate footspeed.
