Questions for The April Live Period

TOP HEADLINES AS WE ENTER THE FIRST LIVE PERIOD

APRIL 17, 2024 | APRIL QUESTIONS

Is this the only time we will see all of the EYBL together?

Two factors are at play here:

  1. In May, the EYBL is split up into four separate regions (making things incredibly difficult on college coaches)

  2. The U17 USAB World Cup Team will very likely have some key members from the EYBL teams, which means they will miss all of the two July Eval periods.

Who will make the USAB U17 World Cup Team in May?

Players eligible for this team cannot be 17 before January 1, 2024. So this team will be made up of players from the classes of 2025 and 2026 predominantly, with the chance of 2027 and even 2028 (Sydney Douglas). The U17 World Cup is a much tougher competition than the FIBA Americas event that the U16 team won easily last summer. This team will be comprised of different players and will need the balance to compete with different styles from the best teams the world has to offer. There is far less room for error when compiling this roster.

If we had to send 12 today, here’s who it would be:

Jacy Abii - IFN

Dee Alexander - WV Thunder

Aaliyah Crump - All Iowa Attack

Jaliya Davis - MO Phenom

Sydney Douglas - Cal Stars

Oliviyah Edwards - NW Greyhounds

Saniyah Hall - Legends U

Trinity Jones - M14 Hoops

Jerzy Robinson - Not playing club basketball

Emilee Skinner - Utah Prospects

Hailee Swain - Team Elite

McKenna Woliczko - Jason Kidd Select

The biggest questions going in will be which players prove they can shoot the ball consistently, and which can be versatile enough bigs to defend and score. This pool of players is really deep at the wing and forward positions. The point guard leaders must emerge as well. This would be a very big and versatile team across the board. Let’s see how it shapes up!
