Five-Star Addie Deal commits to Iowa!

2025 Addie Deal of Mater Dei High School (CA) has committed to Iowa. Deal is the current No. 12 player in the class per ESPNW and plays club ball for the Cal Stars.

Deal is the ultimate glue player with a jack-of-all-trades fundamental game. She is comfortable leading and facilitating the offense as well as carrying a scoring load. She has an incredible motor and is not going to get outworked by her competition. She brings a physical toughness to the floor and will defend with high energy and rebound on both ends. She has confident range to her game and can shoot it from deep as well as hit the pull up or contact finish. 

Addie has leadership intangible and a maturity in her approach to development that will serve her well as she transitions to the next level. 

Iowa getting a commitment from a player in California is eye opening for some and is an indication of two things: conference realignment effects (the Big Ten has obvious reach into California and the West Coast now), and also the “Caitlin Clark effect” - Iowa being a more recognizable brand to a bigger audience now.
