NIKE Hoop Summit 2026
USA Women Route the World 104-77
April 14, 2026
Played on Saturday, April 11, in Portland Oregon, the women representing the United States of America made it 4-0 all-time versus the World team which on paper looked competitive this year. In winning this year’s Nike Hoop Summit 104-77, the USA posted the most points and largest margin of victory in the four-year rivalry.
As it was, this game was simply a blowout. Despite efforts to dress up the world with quality US-based players of foreign ancestry (Eve Long, Ivanna Manyacka and Olivia Vukosa), this was not very competitive. The USA jumped out 27-12 after one quarter leading 58-33 at half. If the World can take any solace, it lost the second half by just two points.
First, woes for the World:
The initial problem for the World was it was out-classed early at the guard positions, struggling to get into an offense in the first quarter. For whatever reason, the world opened with only one true guard in France's Emma Broliron to the USA's Maddyn Greenway (point) and Jerzy Robinson (more shooting guard but playing point at times). With struggles at guard, the World forwards had a challenging time picking up the slack from the opening moments with USA up 8-1 out of the starting gate.
The brightest notes for the World team were Australian Sitaya Fagan (already training at Southern Cal) who attacked the basket with some success, finishing with a team leading 15 points on 3/5 from the field and 8/8 from the foul line. UCONN-bound Serbian Jovana Popovic posted 14 points on 6/9 from the field. Unfortunately, much of her success came with the World well behind.
Canadian Savvy Sords (headed to Kentucky after a fine career at Long Island Lutheran) played the most minutes (26) for the World team. While her efforts were strong (willing to hit the floor for loose balls), results of 14 points on 4/15 from the field plus only 3 rebounds were not up to her normally high standards.
No other player representing the World reached double figures. This was in large part due to strong USA defense (particularly in the first half) but due to some extent that the World guards Broliron, Popovic (in spite of scoring) and Westtown's Jada Lynch (representing her native Belgium) only combining for 5 assists (team total 9) versus the USA's 26.
My final comment as to the World roster is did anyone look north to add any of the quality Canadian perimeter players Avery Arije, Chance Berry or Amelia Sow? Perhaps Nike preferred a more global-appearing roster first and foremost?
For the USA, joy/excellence!
All players contributed something but five are mentioned below. Southern Cal-bound Saniyah Hall had an impressive line with 19 points on 8/17 from the field plus 8 rebounds with 4 steals. Iowa-bound McKenna Woliczko posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds plus 6 assists while getting much less notice from the announcing crew. Conversely (miked-up) South Carolina-bound Jerzy Robinson got pushed (If one was picked) for MVP by the announcers. She performed much better than in the McDonald's game with 19 points on 6/15 from the field with 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Of the three, I would have leaned slightly to Hall over the blue-collar efforts of Woliczko as to leader for any MVP award (never mentioned in the broadcast although Robinson and Hall were interviewed post-game) given how the game unfolded.
Trinity Jones played just 15 minutes but impressed while posting 8 points. She will be a major catch (great perimeter size, fine stroke, superior athleticism) for some Power 4 team, having recently been granted her release from her Clemson commitment.
Kentucky-bound Maddyn Greenway was an energizer bunny at point guard. She got the USA off and running in the first period with a couple of early steals (4 total for the game) in particular. She finished with 11 points on 4/9 from the field (3 triples) and 2 assists. Greenway is likely the leading candidate for any national all-around athlete-of-the-year award as besides being regarded as Minnesota's top basketball player, she holds Minnesota scoring records in soccer and has won state titles in track. That is special!
