2025 Best of the Best Futures 3X3 Camp

This Event Covered Lots of Bases

October 28, 2025

Held Saturday, October 11, 2025, at MAC Sports in Lewisville, Texas (not far from DFW Airport), the 2025 Best of the Best Futures Elite (fifth year) presented by Jason Key and Full Throttle Basketball saw 133 talented players from the classes of (mostly) 2028, 2029 and (a few) 2030 participate in an action-filled camp.  Matters started before 9am and finished after 6pm with the only significant break being an hour for lunch during which there was a panel discussion. While the event centered on 3x3 play, there were also 1v1, plus 3pt and free throw competitions that kept players well occupied.

A bit on 3x3 value and rules in force at event

One benefit of 3x3 is it allows more space and rewards players who can use it to attack the rim or work hard to get open on perimeter.  Fouling is generally more discouraged in 3x3 than in 5x5 as free throws (2) count as much as a ‘made’ basket (one point).

Teams of three generally with one sub

Time of game: 10 minutes running or first team to reach 21 if under 10 minutes

 1 point for a basket

2 points for a three-pointer

Fouls on the floor before the 10th are just possession retained up top. On the 10th foul and after, it would be two free throws [no games in camp reached this point].

Two foul shots are awarded for being fouled in the act of shooting whether inside or beyond the arc.

Outstanding talent

Barring injury, all but a few of the players in the camp will be Division 1 prospects at some level.  Most of those below will get offers either from a Power 4 program or a conference considered just below that level.  A lot will depend on how much more these young prospects may grow and how they will fill out and of course improve their skills.

Some players start slowly and blossom later while others are advanced compared to their peers in middle school but do not progress and are later passed by others.  One saying might be “better now” vs the competition or “better later” meaning a higher-level long-term prospect, who may not be that advanced at a middle school or high school age. Online scouting service ratings are largely tied to “upside” or more formally college potential.

Players are listed alphabetically within class with listed height and position (a bit less defined in 3x3). In parenthesis is school with state [home state also listed if different] plus most recent club team.   Comments are brief on most players as a lot were seen only for a short period of time (be it perhaps more than once at the camp). From a college viewpoint, these are players you may wish to track and decide if they can contribute to your program.
